PROFILE OF KWAKU

DR KWAKU OPPONG ASANTE

Dr. Kwaku Oppong Asante is an experienced researcher and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at, the University of Ghana. He is an Honorary Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Free State. He holds a PhD in Health Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and a Master of Philosophy Degree in Developmental Psychology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His current research interests include mental health, adolescent and young adult health and well-being, adolescents in adversity, and health promotion.

Dr. Oppong Asante has participated (either as a PI or Co-I) in several research projects funded by national and international organizations such as BANGA-Africa, Harvard University, and the French Embassy, in Ghana. He has over the years combined the written and oral skills he gained from his academics to provide practical training and advocacy for young adults' involvement in community development. He has been teaching psychology and social science courses including Research Methods, Psychology of Childhood and Adolescence, and Mental Health of Young Adults in Resource-limited countries, among others. Dr. Oppong Asante has published extensively with over 100 peer-reviewed articles and has acted as an ad-hoc reviewer for over 40 journals over the past decade.
