PROFILE OF PATIENCE
Patience Kpeda
Patience Kpeda is an accomplished agricultural professional and gender-equality advocate with extensive experience advancing women’s empowerment across Ghana’s agricultural sector. As a member of the Centre for Sustainability and Environmental Action (CSEA) team, she is committed to transforming rural women from subsistence farmers into economically independent agripreneurs through inclusive, climate-smart approaches.
She holds a Degree in Agricultural Extension, a Diploma in Sustainable Gardening, and a Mastercard certification in Climate-Smart Agriculture. These qualifications equip her with strong technical and facilitation skills to design and implement gender-responsive programs that address structural barriers faced by women in agriculture.
Patience also serves as the Ghana Chapter Leader for Tammy’s International Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Association (TIWAEA Africa), where she leads the organization of women into cooperatives and delivers leadership and capacity-building initiatives. Through this work, she strengthens women’s participation in local governance and decision-making processes.
A key focus of her work is the reduction of post-harvest losses, a critical challenge limiting women’s income security and financial independence. Her contributions to sustainable development have earned her international recognition, including the Bronze Award from Global Sustainability Futures.
As a member of African Women in Beekeeping, Patience leads CSEA’s alternative livelihoods initiatives, supporting income diversification and resilience among women and vulnerable groups. Through her leadership, she continues to challenge systemic inequalities and promote equitable, sustainable food systems across West Africa.
